About this course

The product owner role fails in one particular way: it becomes a ticket writing service. Requests arrive from everywhere, all of them reasonable, and the role degrades into transcription with a job title.

This course is about the part that makes it a real job: deciding what not to build, measuring outcomes rather than output, and holding a roadmap that survives contact with a sales team.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish output from outcome and measure the right one
  • Prioritise transparently and defend a decision to say no
  • Write a roadmap that communicates intent rather than promising dates
  • Recognise and resist the ticket writing service failure mode

Questions

Is this a Certified Scrum Product Owner course?

No, and it is not affiliated with Scrum Alliance or Scrum.org. Those are certifications with their own syllabuses. This teaches the judgement the certifications assume you already have.
