What is free and what is not
The honest version, in one table.
This site was free when it launched. It is not entirely free any more, and rather than quietly change a price list we have written down exactly what changed, what stayed, and what it costs. For the prices themselves see pricing.
Free, with no account and no payment
| Item | Cost | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Module one of every course | Free | A real module: the same written material, worked examples and knowledge check as the rest of the course. Not a summary or a sample |
| Every course overview | Free | Outcomes, who it is for, sources, accreditation position, the lot |
| Recording scripts | Free | The full narration script for every course, published openly |
| Certificate verification | Free | Any employer, any time, no account. Free permanently, because a certificate nobody can check is not worth issuing |
Free once you have an account
| Item | Cost | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Your first complete course | Free | Any course you choose. It stays open to you permanently |
| Its assessment and certificate | Free | Marked server side, unlimited retakes, no resit fee |
| Your CPD record | Free | Hours ledger, attempts, certificates, exportable |
| Creating an account | Free | No card required at any point to register |
| Home caring courses, for unpaid family carers | Free | 7 courses on caring for somebody at home, for anybody looking after a relative or friend without being paid. Self declared on your account, no evidence asked for, and it does not use up your free course |

Figures for other providers are typical published rates at July 2026, given as ranges for comparison. They are not quotations, they change, and they vary by provider.
If you registered while this was free
Then nothing changes for you, permanently. Every course stays open, you will not be asked for a card, and no certificate you have earned can be affected. We published that this would not start costing you something later, and we are keeping that for the people it was said to.
What we still will not do
- Charge your card automatically. A pass runs thirty days and stops.
- Advertise a permanent fake discount. A price that is always on sale is just the price.
- Withdraw a certificate you have earned because a pass lapsed.
- Issue a certificate for a competence that has to be observed. Hoisting, basic life support and venepuncture are assessed in your workplace, and our certificates say so.
- Sell, rent or trade learner data, or run advertising against it.
