About this course

Stakeholders do not ask for requirements, they ask for solutions. They ask for a dropdown, a report, a field. Taking that literally and building it is how organisations end up with systems full of features nobody uses.

This course teaches the discipline of finding the problem behind the request, writing requirements that describe need rather than implementation, and modelling a process as it actually runs rather than as the procedure says.

What you will be able to do

  • Separate a stated solution from the underlying problem
  • Write requirements that describe need rather than implementation
  • Model a process as it is actually performed
  • Recognise and handle conflicting stakeholder requirements

Questions

Is this a BCS business analysis certification?

No, and it is not affiliated with BCS. It teaches the underlying practice, which is what certified analysts still find hardest: getting past the stated solution to the actual problem.
